Any type of sealing gasket, in harsh operating environments, must have the following eight important characteristics to ensure effective sealing over a long period.

Any type of sealing gasket, in harsh operating environments, must have the following eight important characteristics to ensure long-term effective sealing:

1. Airtightness
Regarding the medium of the sealing system, the gasket should not leak within the recommended temperature and pressure during the specified working time.

2. Compressibility
The contact surface between the sealing gasket and the flange should fit well after the connection bolts are tightened to ensure sealing.

3. Creep resistance
Under the influence of pressure load and operating temperature, the sealing gasket should have good creep resistance; otherwise, it will cause bolt torque loss, leading to a reduction in the gasket's surface stress and then system leakage.

4. Chemical corrosion resistance
The selected gasket should not be corroded by the chemical medium and must not contaminate the medium.

5. Resilience
Even when the system is stable, the two connected flanges will inevitably have slight displacement due to temperature and pressure; the gasket's elastic function should compensate for this displacement to ensure system sealing.

6. Anti-adhesion
The sealing gasket should be easily removable from the flange after use, without sticking.

7. Non-corrosiveness
The sealing gasket should not corrode the surface of the connected flange.
